My Birthday

Another year...another birthday. They just aren't that exciting anymore. Especially when you are closer to 40 than you are to 30. Yes folks, I am getting old! My wonderful husband did a good job of trying to make the most of the day for me. And he did do a wonderful job. First when I got home from tutoring he had the house clean and kids all ready for bed, he just kept them up so I could cuddle a little. That alone would have been enough but then he put them to bed and pulled out a dinner that he had prepared for me. He set up Ayla's little table with candles so that we could have a nice romantic diner for two. The next day we celebrated with some cake and Ayla helped me to blow out the candles. It was a very nice day despite the fact that I apparently aged somewhere along the way. Here's some pictures:

My birthday ice cream cake (YUM!) The candles are supposed to be in the shape of the age I was turning.

New Year's Eve

This year for New Year's Eve Lucas and I wanted to have a nice romantic night alone. HA! With two kids that was not quick to happen...but eventually we did get them settled and into bed and the two of us had a nice romantic dinner for two. Our dinner consisted of steak, lobster, brussel sprouts, (my favorite veggie!) and baked potatoes! It was DELICIOUS! We ate by candlelight, then watched a movie together while cuddling on the couch. It was great to spend the time alone together and reconnect. I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful husband. We really enjoyed our night.

It's so funny how ten years ago I would have spent my New Year's Eve celebrating in a whole different way, yet wouldn't have had nearly as much fun! I LOVE my life and I'm so thankful for the choices I've made and guidance I've received to lead me to the life I have now. As I started the year I spent some time reflecting on all of my blessings and it really hit me as to how lucky I am. I have much to be thankful for.
