Fall in Virginia

Okay so I know that these pictures are from last fall, but I really wanted to add them to my blog. Sometimes I really love where I live. These pictures are from Shenandoa National park. They are overlooking the Shenandoa Valley which is about 40 miles southeast of D.C.

This one is for my mom. I know that she really loves fall and all the colors and in southern Utah they don't have spectacular fall colors like they do in the east.

Lucas and I hiked up a "mountain", now this is a mountain by east coast standards remember, all of my family from out west would laugh at this "mountain". Anyway at the top is the highest point along the appalachian trail. It was around 4,000 feet overlooking the valley.

Here are Lucas and I taking a break after our long hike.

Funny Girl!

This is a list of funny things that Ayla has said and done.
Conversation between Lucas and Ayla. "Daddy what's the matter?" Daddy says: "I'm really tired" Ayla: "I know how to make you feel better!" She runs away, comes back a minute later with her toy flashlight. Daddy: "How are you going to make me feel better with your flashlight?" Ayla: "I'm going to put on a shadow puppet show!" -April 2012
While watching Beauty and the Beast (which she has seen 50 times) at the part where Belle comes out in her beautiful yellow dress Ayla remarked "Oh I can't believe my eyes!"-March 2012
Daddy was doing something funny and Ayla said "Oh Daddy you're a hoot!"-February 2012
While cuddling with Ayla one night in her bed I was singing a song to her. She turned her head away and asked "Mom can you go brush your teeth before you sing again?"-February 2012
Lucas was doing something silly making us all laugh. I looked at Ayla and twirled my finger around my ear while pointing at Daddy, completing forgetting that she doesn't know the universal sign for "crazy". She looked at Lucas and said, "Oh Daddy you're such a rolling pin!"-January 2012
At dinner I asked Lucas to get the crumbly bleu cheese out of the fridge. Ayla got this horrified expression on her face and said "Eww!" I asked her what was wrong, she responded, "I don't want any of that grumpy old cheese!"-January 2012
When we got up this morning and turned the TV on it was tuned to one of Lucas's shows about cars. Ayla commented "Oh, I LOVE classic cars in the morning!"-December 2011
When reading a Christmas book Ayla asked me where Santa's ship was. Confused I told her he doesn't have a ship. She said "Yes he does, a pirate ship!" Even more confused I told her Santa wasn't a pirate. She then looked at me and in all seriousness said, "Then why does he say Yo Ho Ho" -December 2011
When putting Ayla to bed the other night I was cuddled up next to her with my head on her pillow and we were singing a song. Suddenly she said "Shh Mommy let me sing you a lullabye" She then proceeded with "Lullabye and goodnight, go to sleep little Mommy"-November 2011
After we finished singing quite a few songs which is our normal bedtime routine, Ayla said "Whew all this singing has really tired me out!"-November 2011
I got angry with Ayla for something she did and started to raise my voice with her. "Don't yell at me Mommy" she said, "you're my best friend!"-November 2011
I had some rolls sitting on the counter waiting for dinner. Lucas walked out into the kitchen and caught Ayla biting one. She smiled at him, put her finger to her lips, and said shhh!-November 2011
Ayla pointed at a pimple on my chin and asked me if my nipple hurt!-November 2011
One night when putting Ayla to bed I was cuddling her when she said "Mommy you better go my bed is getting tired from holding you, you must weight 18 lbs!-October 2011"
I told Ayla I had a song stuck in my head she proceeded to start looking at my hair and said "Where I can't see it?"-September 2011
Upon seeing a dead worm on the sidewalk she asked me "Mommy is it sick?" "Something like that I said." Ayla-"Well come on, hurry up we have to get him some cough medicine!"-September 2011
One night when she was having a hard time sleeping she kept getting out of bed each time with a different excuse. I was quite exasperated and the sixth or so time that she came out I said "Ayla what is it now?" I have dust in my nose Mommy was her response!"-July 2011
One day when Ayla was supposed to be laying down for nap I noticed her light was on, I stormed into her room only to find that she had put on her gymnastics leotard and was laying on the floor with her leg in the air. "I'm doing my workout Mommy" she told me!-June 2011
One day when Grandma was over Ayla wanted to watch her shows but Grandma turned on one of Grandma's shows. Ayla exclaimed "Oh no, Grandma's shows!"-February 2011
On our way to church one Sunday Ayla asked "Mom where is the church". I told her you'll know when we get there punkin. Upon pulling into the parking lot Ayla remarked "Oh good we found the church!"-December 2010
